Welcome to Unity of Fayetteville A Center for Conscious Living

Rev Annette OlsenDear Friend,

We welcome you to Unity of Fayetteville a Center for Conscious Living website.  We are grateful for your interest in us.  It is always a pleasure to share our Unity of Fayetteville Community life with another.

Our Unity of Fayetteville Community is more than a church or religious organization; we are a community of like-minded individuals who want to experience life in a more conscious way. We come together to share our joy, love, sadness, and/or challenges and so much more. At Unity of Fayetteville our intention is to live, move and have our being expressed from the Innate Goodness that is always present within and around us. We celebrate the Divinity we are each here to express.

Our programs, services and classes are guided by our Mission; “Inspiring transformation, we enrich lives”. We are here to create a deeper experience of life through the practices of prayer, meditation and service to ourselves and others.

We invite you to explore the opportunities to enrich your life that we offer throughout the year. We have classes, small group ministry, youth and family ministry, meditation and other programs available.

Weather permitting, check out our grounds; we have a beautiful labyrinth created from Ozark stones, a Prairie Restoration project in the front and east grounds. We are blessed with many gardens including a rain water garden in the front of our building. Help yourself to one of our inspirational stones along the front walk way.

We also have a Little Free Pantry in the front to help those in our neighborhood who are food insecure.

If you find this place might be for you, please sign up for our weekly E-news. Check out our website, www.unityfay.org and also www.unity.org to know more about our larger Movement called Unity.

We are blessed by your presence. We invite you to continue be a part of our CommUnity and explore conscious living. We honor all Spiritual paths and wherever you are on that path you are welcome here.

In Peace and Love,

Rev. Annette Olsen

Welcome to Unity of Fayetteville
A Center for Conscious Living

God is Spirit, the loving source of all that is. God is the one power, all good, everywhere present, all wisdom. God is divine energy, continually creating, expressing and sustaining all creation. In God, we live and move and have our being. In Unity, some other ways we speak of God are Life, Light, Love, Substance, Principle, Law and Universal Mind.

The Nature of Humankind

We are each individual, eternal expressions of God. Our essential nature is divine and therefore inherently good. Our purpose is to express our divine potential as realized and demonstrated by Jesus and other master teachers. The more we awaken to our divine nature, the more fully God expresses in and through our lives.

Our Teachings

  • Heaven is not a place, but a state of consciousness; we create our own heaven and hell here and now.
  • We all have an innate capacity to know God through direct experience.
  • The “Christ” is that part of God that is in every person. There is a spark of divinity within all people, just as there was in Jesus.
  • Prayer works.
  • We are here to set a positive example and be a role model for others.
  • We are here to make the world a better place.

We believe that Jesus expressed his divine potential and sought to show humankind how to express ours as well. We see Jesus as a master teacher of universal truths and as our Way Shower. In Unity, we use the term Christ to mean the divinity in humankind. Jesus is the great example of the Christ in expression.

The Bible

Unity founders Charles and Myrtle Fillmore studied the Bible as history and allegory and interpreted it as a metaphysical representation of humankind's evolutionary journey toward spiritual awakening. In addition, Unity recognizes that the Bible is a complex collection of writings compiled over many centuries. We honor the writings as reflecting the understanding and inspiration of the writers at the time they were written. The Bible continues to be a valuable spiritual resource for us.

Prayer and Meditation

Affirmative prayer is the highest form of creative thought. It includes the release of counterproductive, negative thoughts, as well as holding in mind statements of spiritual truth. Through meditation, we experience the presence of God. Prayer and meditation heighten our awareness and thereby transform our lives.

Unity's Five Principles.   -https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unity_Church

  1. God is all there is and present everywhere. This is the force of love and wisdom that underlies all of existence.
  2. Human beings are divine at their core and therefore inherently good.
  3. Thoughts have creative power to determine events and attract experiences.
  4. Prayer and meditation keep us aligned with the one great power in the universe.
  5. It is not enough to understand spiritual teachings. We must live the Truth we know.

Unity aims to demonstrate that the teachings of Jesus Christ can be lived every day. Its followers believe that the true "Church" is a "state of consciousness in mankind."[18] Unity teaches that each person is a unique expression of God and is sacred and worthy. It emphasizes the creative power of thought, and encourages taking personal responsibility to choose life-affirming thoughts, words and actions, to experience a more fulfilling and abundant life.
